A series of studies were carried out to answser questions about the issues and potentials related to Farm Labour on Vancouver Island with a major focus on the Nanaimo Regional District. The studies were carried out through a Labour Market Development program supported by Service Canada with input from Coast Capital Savings Credit Union, the Vancouver Foundation, The Canadian Worker Coop Federation and Edible Strategies Enterprises. The project was sponsored by Nanaimo Association for Community Living.
The first study that reviewed the literature and recorded the results of key informant interviews was completed by Trish Stovel. The second study that included visits and interviews with farmers and a review of issues from the farmer's perspective was completed by "From the Ground Up Rural Resource Consultants"
